~Danica~

We are learning about how much each coin is worth and their attributes.  In their planner they have a quick question to answer about counting coins.

We also learned about what makes a good story.  Ask them the first two parts of a good story and what they mean!  We want to start adding these elements in our own stories that we are writing.

Abby learned how to log the 5 senses to help her be a better writer.  We went to the playground and listed the 5 senses to describe things on the playground.  We will use this to write sentences about our playground.

The students are learning to write sentences that will paint a picture for the reader.  We learned and applied our understanding of senses to help us.

We will have a Parent Orientation on September 9th from 6:00 pm to 7:15 pm.  Please join us to learn about the things that your child will be learning in school this year.

I know we have so many Champs in the room that I will have two new ones tomorrow!

The students are bringing home their first book to read and they will need to get their reading log initialed by you.  They need to read each night for 20 minutes.  This will help them with their fluency.  I would like for them to come back the next day and write something about their book.  As we learn different comprehension strategies they will answer questions based on their reading.  Thank you for helping your child each night!
