Today was an awesome day for the ALL the Champs in my class!  They are such a great group of kids that are respectful to others and their learning time!  Thank you!

We are working hard on a PBL project to share with you!  We are learning about Texas and our region is the Panhandle.  We will be having a short readers’ theater about symbols and places in Texas and then you will be able to view the details we have learned about the Texas Panhandle.  The groups took on research with guidance that taught them about the weather, terrain, animals, and attractions of the Texas Panhandle.  At this time we have it on the calendar to share with you on April 19th.  I will let you know about the details soon.  Please let me know if  you or a loved one have been to the Texas Panhandle area and have information to share.  We could have a blog post and comment interview.  The kids really have been coming up with great questions to guide their research.

Please continue to have them read each night and at least one time over the weekend.  They have all progressed so much in their reading ability.  We can always grow in the area of fluency and comprehension.  The best practice to succeed in these areas is to read, read, read and to discuss our stories.

Thank you all for your dedication in your child’s education and the support that you give me!  We succeed because we are all a team!

Math – Solid Figures and Shapes!  We are learning the names of the solid figures, the shapes of the faces that make them, and how they are alike and different.  Please help them notice these types of shapes and solid figures in our world.

In writing we are completing an adaptation of the story The Three Little Pigs They have researched animals in the Panhandle and their predators.  They used the research information to write a fiction story modeled by the story of The Three Little Pigs.  We will also display these stories written by groups at our presentation!
