Dear Parents,
Our students participated in Wee Deliver this year. It is a Primary School wide mailing system with real (2nd Grade) postmen. We learned to write friendly letters and address them to our friends. They were placed in a big mailbox and then delivered to our classroom mailboxes each day. This was a fun and purposeful way for our students to practice their writing skills. To be sure their message was understood they had to be diligent with using good penmanship, editing, and revising their letter. I thought the fun could continue this summer. I have attached (in report card) a list of their classmates party invite addresses from this year. I am sure your student would have fun writing a few letters to their friends over the summer and a whole lot of fun receiving one back from a friend. Encourage their writing over the summer by sending a friendly letter to a friend!

The White Oak High School Community Library will hold its 2012 Summer Reading Program beginning June 6th through July 18th.
Participants may be between the ages of 5 and 10 years old.
Story Hour will be on Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m.
The Performance schedule is listed below and begin at 10:30 a.m. Admission is FREE!

A note went home today about lunch and lunch charges. Please read the purple note your child brought home today.
Monday, May 14th the cafeteria will NO longer allow charges. If they do not have money in their account they will not receive breakfast and will be served the alternative lunch. Please check their account at woisd.net. It is located under the food services tab and click on Lunch Money Now. Thanks for your help.
The kids have brought home their Mother’s Day gift and card. They hope to surprise you on Sunday! They worked very hard and are very proud of their present to celebrate you!

Class Pictures were this Tuesday. You still have time to purchase your child’s class picture. Please send $10 by this Friday if you would like a class picture!
We are learning our last 5 spelling words out of 100! I will send you a list again home in their report card. You may have time to let them practice these words over the summer on Spellingcity.com.

We wiil have hot dogs provided by the cafeteria tomorrow instead of pizza. We will be sitting outside to eat on the playground to allow the kindergarten grandparents to enjoy lunch in the cafeteria with their kindergarten grandchild. Please have your student bring a towel to sit on for our picnic style lunch!

Our Reading Contest ends tomorrow! Please continue to read each night! We will continue reading books in class and discussing the connections we have and better comprehension skills! I am so proud of my readers! Keep it up!
We have graded papers in our folder and we will continue reviewing math skills from the year! Ask your kids about the concepts they are reviewing!

Great Champs! We have shown kindness and been helpful! Thanks Kenzie! Makenzie has been modeling what great writing looks like and sounds like! Woohoo! Casen-Scott has been following directions to show how Champs behave! Mitchell has been diligent during work time! Lauryn has been a kind friend! Alexis is always modeling being a hall champ! Thanks to all of you for helping others see what it looks like to be a Champ!!
