Ask your student what they learned about insects today.

We measured using a pencil eraser that is about the size of a centimeter.  We also noticed that using non-standard units will not always be the same number in length.

In writing we are connecting fiction and non-fiction while writing about the life cycle of a plant.

We are beginning to read even more non-fiction to build our vocabulary in this area.

I will send out notes about the Easter Party on Wednesday.

Bring recyclable items from home on Monday.  In class this week we will reuse these recycled items and create something new.  Go Green!

Dear Parents

On Thursday and Friday of next week students will be producing the mid-way PBL project, Trash to Treasure. Your children will collaborate with their assigned groups and discover ways to use recycled items. They will work with their groups to create a new product using at least 50% recycled materials. They will present their product and the process they used to create it.

In order to make this project successful, we need your help in supplying some materials. If you have any of the materials listed below, please send them to school on Monday, March 24th. Please send items you could recycle at home. There is no need to purchase anything. We want the kids to see the process of reusing materials that are not already being used.

We appreciate your support!

Sincerely,

2nd Grade Teachers
