Reading:  We will be learning to use inferencing clues to understand what we are reading.  The students will be helping create some clues using nouns, verbs, and adjectives and then see if another class can solve the mystery word by using inferencing clues.

Spelling:  We will not have a spelling test this week.  We will play games to review our learned spelling words.

Writing:  We will be learning to read and write long “e” wordsThe students will also listen to a cute story called Spookley the Square Pumpkin We will discuss the sequence of the story from beginning, middle, and end.  The students will plan their own story that is a “text to text” connection with Spookley.  Spookley will help us learn a great lesson.  I hope the “pumpkin” in their story will help us learn a great lesson, too!

Math:  We will be finishing our unit in Geometry.  The students will take an assessment on Friday.  This will help me assess their understanding of the vocabulary of solid figures and plane shapes.  We will also assess their understanding of how to create solid figures.  We discuss story problems and computation in math daily.

Science:  We will be learning to research animals and answer questions about the information we learned.  We will also be learning about the life cycle of a pumpkin.
