Tomorrow is Crazy Hair Day!  They are not aloud to spray color in their hair.  They can wear wigs.

The students will have an Early Release day tomorrow.  They will leave at 11:30.

Spelling Tests will usually be given each Friday.  We will put our words on the blog and in our planner each Monday.  You may visit the Spelling City site on my blog and have your student type in their spelling words.  They can then play learning games to help them practice their words.  Thank you for helping your child learn their words.

There was a note sent home on Friday about Coins for Cancer.

Bring spare change or donations for Coins for Cancer to support the Morgan family.

Thursday – Rock Out Cancer Day – Rock N’ Roll shirts, but that are still in compliance with the dress code.
Friday – School Spirit Day – Paint a face with W.O. colors

This is not a mandatory activity, but would be appreciated to help support the Morgan family.  Thank you for your support!  We want the students to have fun and be part of a wonderful community project to help another family in the community.

Dear Parents,

We would like your help with our Sonic Limeades for Learning project.  This year I have asked for an ipad mini to add to our classroom technology.  Beginning on September 23rd and ending on October 27th you can help us with receiving this item.  All you have to do is vote from EVERY and ALL emails that you have access to each day of the week.  You will go to limeadesforlearning.com.  You will have to login in on the left top with your email.  Click on “Find A Project” at the top of the page.  Click on Find A Project.  Search the name Tap into Technology or type in White Oak in the search area and locate the project (add it to your favorites) and make sure it shows my name.   You may then vote using your email addresses. Each email address is only given one vote a day, but  if  you go to Sonic they will give you tickets to vote two extra times in a day.  Also, after 10 votes you will get an extra free vote.  If our class project gets the most votes in a time period, Donor’s Choose (Sonic Limeades For Learning) will grant us the ipad mini.  Your email will not be used for anything except voting on the project.  Please share this with all of your friends and family and encourage them to vote.  My students and I would greatly appreciate it!  

Remember:  Voting starts on September 23rd.  I did hear that Sonic may start giving out tickets on September 18th.  I am not positive, but it is worth a try.  Thanks in advance for your help!

We had an awesome week of learning!  We have learned about being a good reader!  We have  also been working on counting coins!  Weather has been a fun topic to learn about, too!  In writing we are learning about different types of sentences and magnifying our ideas to write a story!

We are practicing counting coins.Please practice at home.

We are reviewing coin names and values.  We are also reviewing counting nickels and pennies, dimes and pennies, and quarters and pennies.  We will then learn how to count mixtures of all of these coins together.

We are learning about weather in Science this week.  We learned that temperature lets us know if something is hot or cold.  We will be discussing clouds and watching a Brain Pop Jr. video tomorrow. 

Your student will need to read and have their log initialed by you each night.  If they do this they will earn a ticket.  If they do not read and have the log initialed by you they will lose 3 pts.  Each child will begin with a 100 and it will stay a 100 unless they have not read.  Please remember that practicing their reading each night for 20 minutes will greatly benefit their progress in reading comprehension, fluency, and accuracy!  Thank you for your support.

Would you please send any empty toilet paper rolls or paper towel rolls to school with your child.  We will be learning about focus in our writing.  These items will help with our lesson!  We greatly appreciate your help!  Thanks!
