I   learned  sorting in math.

We are sorting data in class during our math time.  We are playing a game “Guess My Rule”.  Each child watched as we grouped children and they had to decide what attributes we used to sort them.

We are researching about various animals in reading and will be using this information to write a research paper in writing.  We worked on KWL charts today.

We learned about Martin Luther King Jr. today.  We watched a video on brainpopjr.

We are also learning about pronouns.  We will be using these to create a Pocket of Pronouns on Thursday.

The students need to have you look at their report card and have it signed.  They also have two problem solving problems to complete for homework.  If they have both returned tomorrow they will receive a ticket for each.

On Wednesday, January 29th, Primary and Intermediate students will have an early release date. This will be a training day for teachers. Training  classes will begin shortly after your children are dismissed. Because of the scheduled events, we are asking that parents NOT eat lunch with their child on the 29th. Please make note of the times below:

Primary will release on January 29, 2014 at 11:30am!

The students have problem solving math homework.  They need to write a story problem on the index card and then complete each box about that story problem.  When is asks then to label they can write if the answer is a sum or difference.

We will begin writing letters tomorrow.

We are discussing inference and character traits in reading.

In phonics we are sorting ow and ou words.

We have math homework to review reading and writing time to the half hour.  We reviewed this in class and watched a great youtube video to remind us of what we learned about time in first grade.  This is a great review and will earn your child a ticket for completing it and turning it in tomorrow.  Thanks for your support!

We will have a Spelling Test next Friday on January 17, 2014 on the words in their planner this week!

Please read each night and reread a couple of pages to help practice fluency.

In math we are working on place value!
