Wow!  We have already had 100 days of 2nd grade.  We only have 77 days left and we will be 3rd graders!  Keep working hard!

We did 100th day exercises.  We took a picture on an app called aging booth and looked at a picture of what we may look like at age 100.  We wrote about what we would do and where we would live when we are 100.  We also read 100 books as a class and had 100th day snacks.  We also had a graph our favorite 100th day activities.

I learned about data and using that data to create graphs.

We have 100th day celebration tomorrow.  We will have a regular day, but we will add in some great learning fun to practice counting to 100 in many different ways.

I learned how to graphs.  I made a bar graph about my groups favorite pets.

The students asked questions using a survey, sorted the information, created a tally chart, and then showed their information in a graph they created.

I learned about snakes by researching and snakes are endangered by loss of habitat.

 

We have been completing KWL charts as we researched different animals.  We used the online sites that are located on my class blog.  The kids also wrote non-fiction pieces to be published in a class book.

I learned that safety  tip  101 was always  stay  with your  partner.

We read a story called Officer Buckle.  He taught us about safety tips.  We will be writing a class book of tips to keep us safe in school, home, and community!

Writing : We will review and practice revising and editing our research papers.  The students will publish them in the Computer Lab and draw a picture of their animal that they researched.

Reading: We will discussing the author’s purpose.  The students will decide if the author is writing to inform, persuade, or entertain.  We will also decide what the author may have been feeling or thinking as they wrote the books and poems.

Word Work:  We will review prefixes and learn about suffixes..  We will read text and learn how these words help us understand the text. We will also work with word parts to help us write new words.

Math:  We are continuing problem solving, sorting, and graphing!

Science:  We will learn safe practices!

We will have EARLY RELEASE on Wednesday.
