Today we read a great book about teaching us why we should be brave and stand tall! The book was called Stand Tall, Molly Lou Melon. We used sticky notes to make text to self connections. We wrote about the things that made us unique and special!
We are also beginning to create our class Social Contract. Please view the note about our Social Contract and Rules of the classroom that is in your child’s folder.
Today we began our journey in Math. We discussed all the places we see math! They began Number Talk and learned how to have great math discussions. We also completed a math word problem and discussed how to look for the things we know and what we are looking for in our problems. Our math word today was sum!
Good stuff! Thanks for the communication about what is happening in the classroom so that us parents can have more informed discussions with our children at home.
You are welcome! Soon the kids will be blogging about their learning!
Sounds like a fun time for the kiddos in Mrs. Barlow’s class. Thanks for teaching the math clue words. They are so helpful when children are trying to figure out how to solve word problems.
Abby said she enjoyed Stand Tall, Molly Lou Melon. Thanks for making the first two days of school fun, inviting, and meaningful.
