Our Ladybug Student blog is located at the bottom of the classroom blog on the right.  I have changed the setting to allow you to view your child’s posts.  You may comment back to them about what they have written.  It will be monitored and a post and/or comment cannot be seen until I approve it first.  This may be a fun way to have the kids  keep writing and reading over the summer.  It could be a great way to keep up with friends over our break.  I will be teaching 2nd grade next year, but will keep this kidblog open for my past students to be a part of throughout the summer.  I hope you enjoy.  They are really enjoying getting to blog about many things.

The students will be coming home with a teacher placement form in their folder.  It will be due on May 20, 2013.

We have been discussing plant life.  We made a model of a plant and labeled its parts.

In writing we are going through the writing process.  We have planned our story using a web.  Then we drew pictures to show the setting, characters, problem, solution, and lesson we learned from the story we are writing.  We will begin writing our story tomorrow.  Please ask your child what they are writing about.  It should be something that has happened to them.  You may can help them add details to their story.

Reading is going great!  I am proud of all of their success.  Please continue to read!  It adds to all their hard work they are doing at school.

We are still learning about fractions and will have a test tomorrow.  We are also having small group learning about past skills we have learned.  They will have a benchmark test this Thursday over all the skills learned in first grade.
