Please check your child’s folder for important notes!

We have our spelling test tomorrow,

Hats off to Drugs!  Tomorrow wear a hat!

We read about Franklin’s Halloween and made a plan for writing of our own.  We planned the setting, characters, problem, and solution for a story we will begin writing Wednesday!

Mrs. Barlow’s class said, “Sock it to Drugs!’  Drugs can hurt you!

Early release next Friday for the Homecoming Pep Rally!  We will release students at 1:30 for car pick-up and 1:45 for buses.

We will continue working on subtraction and addition together.  We are learning how to look at our signs.  We also are learning to listen to our story problems and find words that will help us decide if you will add or subtract.

Don’t forget about Red Ribbon Week next week!  Monday is Sock it to Drugs!  Wear your crazy socks!

We are reading The Biggest Pumpkin.  We are comparing and contrasting two characters from the story.

Desmond and Clayton are mice.

Desmond wants to make a jack-o-lantern.

Clayton wants to win a contest for the biggest pumpkin.

Ask your student what the problem is in the story.

We learned the answer to a subtraction problem is called the difference.  Kash

I enjoyed reading the mouse book.  Fiona

I learned we need to have good penmanship.  Masen

On the right side of our blog we have a Math link called Math – Lessons, Games, Math Tools.  It is a link that is connected to our math book.   The students play these games in stations and are welcome to play them at home for extra practice and review.  When you click on the link it is broken down into chapters.  They may play games in any of the chapters.  We are working on subtraction now in chapter 3 if they need extra practice.

Spelling City is also a great site that the students can use at school and home.  You can practice many different skills in addition to spelling.  They have a password or can just work on skills they choose and type in their spelling words.

They are welcome to play and practice on any sites on our blog!  I hope you enjoy!

The students have the same reading books tonight!  Reading a book more than once is a great way to increase fluency and expression!  You can also listen to them read another book from your house and sign that on the log.  We were unable to exchange books because we were gone this afternoon for the field trip!  It was a great show!  I am sure you are hearing many things from the students about it!  I am so glad they were able to experience it!

Please continue to sign up for conferences on this blog and don’t forget to put your child’s name in the notes section. I am looking forward to visiting with you!  I am seeing so much growth with each child!

Tomorrow is an early release day!  We will be dismissed at 12:00 PM!
