Please read the following note about a home project idea.  It is not required, but would be a great project if you choose to do it!  Thanks for your support!

Dear Parents,

The students are learning many things about recycling and the benefits of recycling.  Our mid way project will be to create something from the recycled materials that we can play with, use for storage, use for learning, etc.  They will be creating these items in the classroom with their groups or individually.  We would like to add a home project to this experience.  If you would like to help with this then please visit the sites below.  As a family you can help your child create an item made from recyclable materials.  They will share this in class and discuss what materials they used and how the item is helpful to your family.  We would like to have these products brought to class on or before April 15, 2014.

The following sites will give you some great ideas.

Bring recyclable items from home on Monday.  In class this week we will reuse these recycled items and create something new.  Go Green!

Dear Parents

On Thursday and Friday of next week students will be producing the mid-way PBL project, Trash to Treasure. Your children will collaborate with their assigned groups and discover ways to use recycled items. They will work with their groups to create a new product using at least 50% recycled materials. They will present their product and the process they used to create it.

In order to make this project successful, we need your help in supplying some materials. If you have any of the materials listed below, please send them to school on Monday, March 24th. Please send items you could recycle at home. There is no need to purchase anything. We want the kids to see the process of reusing materials that are not already being used.

We appreciate your support!

Sincerely,

2nd Grade Teachers
