Valentine Party Information

January23

Dear Parents,

Our Valentine’s Day party is scheduled for Tuesday, February 14th, from 12:00 to 1:00. Your child can create a Valentine box or sack at home to bring to school. Please bring the box or sack by Friday, February 10th.  If your child is unable to bring a box or sack I will have materials for them to make one here at school that Friday.  Your child is to bring a Valentine card for each of his/her classmates. You may start sending the Valentine’s cards to school Friday, February 10th. Please try to bring them no later than Monday, February 13th. Please do not send anything with peanut butter ingredients because we do have allergies in the school. Your child may copy the class list below on the outside of their cards. Our room mothers for this party will be contacting you if you completed a pink room mother form.  They may be asking for help with food items and/or help at the party.  All parents are welcome to come and enjoy the party with your child.  We are looking forward to a fun, exciting party.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Brandi Barlow

I will also send home a note this week.

Passage Practice! Please check your child’s folder for the practice passage!

January19

Today the students and I worked on reading a passage and learning to prove our answers.  Even when the questions are inference questions we can still find something in the passge to help us.  We discussed and practiced good strategies to help us be good readers that are thinking about our stories.  We should always go back and reread to make sure we understood what we read.  They are learning to read a story or passage, read the questions, then go back and locate the correct information to show why they chose or wrote their answer.  They need to make sure they read the directions and follow them correctly.  We are also working on writing complete sentences when answering questions.  I hope this example that we did helps them be successful and helps them understand our expectations.  Thank you for your support!

SEESAW – Your student’s blog!

September24

The following is a letter explaining a new app that will give you insight to your child’s activities and learning each day.  They post work and you will get an email.

Dear Parents,

This year we’re going to use a new tool to share what we’re learning in class called Seesaw. Your child will have his or her own learning journal, and you can get notified when your child adds new items. It’s completely private — only you can see your child’s journal outside of class.

Click on https://app.seesaw.me/s/485-027-077 to sign up — it takes just 30 seconds.

Once you sign up, you can download the Seesaw Parent app for iPhone or Android, or access your child’s journal on the web.

The kids are super excited and have already downloaded some of their work.  They are patiently waiting for you to be able to view, like, and even comment on their work in stations, reading, math, and all they are doing in the classroom.  Sometimes if we do something as a class we will share it on all of the student journal blogs.

Thanks!
